
This past July, we had the pleasure of honoring our 2025 DMC Driver of the Year, Perry Carter of Cargo Transporters, Inc. DMC hosted an award ceremony at Perry’s home terminal in Claremont, NC, where his family, friends, colleagues, and the Cargo Transporters leadership gathered to celebrate his exceptional commitment to safety and his accomplished career.
Perry’s impressive achievements include nearly three million accident-free miles over 32 years of professional driving, with more than twenty years at Cargo Transporters, Inc. Learn more about Perry’s background and achievements in our announcement post.

During the award ceremony, leaders from Cargo Transporters spoke about the impact Perry has had at their company and how much they appreciate his work ethic and dedication.
Matthew Sheffield, Perry’s nominator, shared, “Perry exemplifies what it means to be a professional driver, a servant leader, and an industry ambassador. He sets the highest standards of integrity and community service and is a powerful voice for veteran causes and the trucking community.”
After the award presentation, Perry’s co-workers took the opportunity to individually congratulate him and share stories with the group about working alongside Perry over the years.
When asked about winning the award, Perry remarked, “Being a truck driver is a lifestyle. Getting this award is recognition for all the hard work, attention to detail, attention to safety, and time spent continuing to educate myself. All of that work has really helped me to maintain my safety record.”
The celebration included a catered lunch and giveaway items for all in attendance, provided by DMC.
