Dave Haines

Dave brings over 36 years of insurance industry claims experience to DMC. He began his claims career with Meridian Insurance, where he handled complex multi-line claims. Dave also handled high-value general liability claims at Zurich Insurance Company for four years. After Zurich, Dave joined Baldwin & Lyons, working exclusively for 17 years with transportation and trucking clients, managing extensive insured and self-insured claims functions, including the management of Excess Claims. During this period, Dave was responsible for the entire claims handling operations for many of the largest trucking companies in the country.

At DMC, Dave’s responsibilities include the management of claims within the self-insured retention handled by DMC’s Contract Claims department for some of the largest trucking companies in the nation. He has been involved in hundreds of mediations, settlement conferences, arbitrations, and trials across the country. Dave is widely recognized as one of the foremost experts and most qualified individuals in the country regarding transportation insurance claims, trials, and coverage issues. Dave has a particular focus and skill set in the assessment of liability, damages, exposure, and venue as they relate to litigation and pre-trial strategy.

Dave participates in all monthly claim roundtable meetings and is actively involved and engaged in the strategy, reserving, and resolution of every significant DMC claim. Under Dave’s direction, DMC’s claims department consistently produces superior results for DMC insureds by actively managing the claims process more closely and frequently than any of its peers.
